Sansevieria trifasciata is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to tropical West Africa. It is a stemless evergreen perennial plant that is commonly known as snake plant, mother-in-law's tongue, or viper's bowstring hemp. It has long, stiff, upright leaves that are usually banded or edged in gray-green or silver-white.
